About Marshall
Ever since Marshall Coats could walk he was playing some kind of instrument. His father owned (and still owns) a music store, so there was never a shortage of available musical toys. When he was about 10, he began to get serious with playing. He first gravitated towards the keyboard, later picking up drums, then guitar, bass, saxophone, trumpet, and the list goes on. By the time he was fifteen Marshall was playing professionally.
After high school, he studied Composition at GC&SU, where he wrote and arranged music for concert orchestra and small ensembles. Marshall has since been part of several national touring bands on various instruments and performed on various national television programs including Conan O’Brien, Jimmy Kimmel, and David Letterman.
He is currently a member of the band, ‘Niko Moon’ and teaches multiple instruments and disciplines in Atlanta to all ages. Marshall believes education is about leading the way to one’s own passion.
